Terms of Use

The agreement between you and Northlight TV when you buy or use the service.

Last updated [INSERT DATE]. These terms set out the agreement between you and Northlight TV when you buy or use our service. Please read them before you sign up.

Who we are and how to contact us

Northlight TV is a trading name of [INSERT COMPANY NAME], registered in England and Wales under number [INSERT], with its registered office at [INSERT ADDRESS]. You can reach us at [INSERT SUPPORT EMAIL] or [INSERT PHONE NUMBER].

Accepting these terms

By placing an order or using the service, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the service.

Who can buy

You must be at least 18 and resident in the United Kingdom. The service is intended for household use in the UK only. [CONFIRM WHETHER USE ABROAD IS PERMITTED, AS THIS DEPENDS ON YOUR CONTENT LICENCES]

What the service is

Northlight TV provides live television channels and on-demand programmes over your own internet connection, through our app or web player. We do not supply the internet connection, and we do not supply any hardware.

We carry only channels and programmes we are licensed to distribute in the UK. [INSERT SUMMARY OF LICENSING ARRANGEMENTS] Channels and programmes can be added or removed when agreements with broadcasters change, and some content is unavailable for rights reasons. The current line-up is always shown on our website.

You need a TV Licence

A TV Licence is required to watch or record programmes as they are shown live on any channel, or to use BBC iPlayer. A licence is your responsibility and is not included in your subscription. See TV Licensing.

Your account

  • Keep your username and password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens on your account.
  • Your plan sets how many screens can watch at the same time. You may install the app on more devices than that, but only the permitted number can play at once.
  • The service is for you and the people you live with. Sharing your login outside your household is not permitted.
  • Tell us straight away if you think someone else has your details.

What you must not do

  • record, copy, rebroadcast, stream publicly or redistribute any programme or channel
  • show the service in a public place or business premises without our written agreement
  • get around, or try to get around, any security or geographic restriction
  • resell access to the service

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these rules. Where we do, we will tell you why.

Prices and payment

Prices are shown on our website and include VAT. You pay for your chosen term before the service starts. [INSERT WHETHER PLANS RENEW AUTOMATICALLY. If they do, state the renewal price, the notice given before renewal and how to turn renewal off.]

If we change prices, the change will not affect a term you have already paid for. We will give you [INSERT NOTICE PERIOD] notice before any change applies to you.

Cancelling

You have a legal right to cancel within 14 days of buying. How that works, and how refunds are handled, is set out in our refund policy.

Availability

We aim to keep the service running at all times, but we cannot promise it will never be interrupted. Maintenance, faults at broadcasters, and problems with your own broadband can all affect it. Where we plan maintenance that will interrupt the service, we will give notice where we reasonably can.

The picture quality you get depends on your connection speed and your device. We recommend at least [INSERT] Mbps per screen for HD.

If something goes wrong

If the service is faulty or not as described, you have rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, including the right to have the problem put right or to get some money back. Nothing in these terms affects those rights.

We are responsible for loss you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking this contract or failing to use reasonable care. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, or for business losses. We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded by law.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change affects you significantly, we will tell you by email at least [INSERT NOTICE PERIOD] beforehand, and you may cancel and receive a refund for the part of your term you have not used.

Complaints

Email [INSERT SUPPORT EMAIL] and we will acknowledge your complaint within [INSERT] working days. [INSERT ADR OR OMBUDSMAN SCHEME DETAILS IF YOU BELONG TO ONE]

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may bring proceedings in your own country’s courts, and the consumer protections of your country apply.
